Dr. Daniel E. Smith
I am a researcher, writer, and amateur creative practitioner from Leicestershire; now based in the North East.
My scholarly and creative interests focus on media (particularly film) relationships to neoliberalism and capital, emotionality, form, process, obsolescence, and neurodiversity. I am currently engaged in independent research into higher education film pedagogy.
I hold a PhD in Film from the University of Leicester (funded by AHRC Midlands4Cities), where I studied nostalgia in post-2008 British film and television. I also hold first-class qualifications in MA Film and Film Cultures and BA (Hons) Film Studies and the Visual Arts, also from the University of Leicester. I am currently looking for work (particularly in research, teaching, and writing) and welcome any expressions of interests for collaboration, tutoring, or employment.
My interests outside of film/research include cooking, foraging, and being idle. I also support Leicester City.
